Competition: First Round vs. Team Bad Boyz
We won this round because we were able to hit all the targets assigned to us in the correct order. Although the other team was faster (shooting robot) they were less accurate. We scored the full 8 points while they had points deducted for knocking down a target not assigned to them.
Competition: Second Round vs. Team Mad Hatters
This round resulted in victory. The other team's bot lost its orientation and ended up blocking our last target as well as our starting point. Because the other bot was in the way, our bot decided to run into it and "slap" it.
Competition: Third Round vs. Team Firefox (Champions)
We lost this round to Team Firefox, the most consistent team. We made a small error in a value of our look-up table which caused our bot to go to the wrong target. Our re-alignment algorithm took too long to finish hitting all the targets before the other team. CONGRATULATIONS TEAM FIREFOX!
Practice: Half Court
This was one of our "half court" tests that we ran in the lab. Yes, the lab is very messy. The robot knocked off all the targets and returned to the start box perfectly.
Close-up: 360 Degree View of the Bot
This is a 360 degree view of the robot to give you a better idea of how it looks. It's so photogenic! You can see all our soldered perf boards and the jungle of wires we made.
Test: Line Following
This was a test of our tape following hardware and software which wasn't used in the competition. We were required to demonstrate this for one of our checkpoints, but was also a good back-up plan.
Test: Turning and Driving Straight Using Drive Motor Encoders
This is a test we performed early on in the design phase to determine whether we would be able to turn at specific angles and drive straight specified distances using only motor encoders as sensors.
